Many travel companies, particularly those who trade on-line, have almost all of their effort directed at sales. Once the sale is made they are not prepared to spend time or money on customer service. If you check their web sites you will almost never, without a great deal of searching, find a postal address or any way of contacting them other than by e-mail. They do not wish you to know where they are! Often the contact is limited to telephone, which they record; the content of which you have no way of proving at a later date. This practice is designed to deter complaints or changes and frustrate the complainant into giving up. Often the only contact point is a call-centre in India where you speak to Indian staff with anglicised names, aimed at fooling you into believing that you are dealing with a UK centre. At these overseas call-centres,there is absolutely no likelihood of finding anyone who has the motivation of power to solve your problem. Problems with the high street travel agent are generally best solved at the office. However, if you come to a point where you are getting nowhere, follow the advice below.

If you find yourself in the above situation, stop wasting time and write to the MD or CEO of the company. Send the letter by recorded delivery to remove the possibility of any later claims that it was not received.
